Work in progress: dog skull

I've made a set of animal skulls, here are all of them on Behance.
And one of skull (dog skull) was photographed during drawing.
For this small project I used book "Anatomishe Zeichenschule Tier" (Andras Szunyoghy, György Fehér), you can find it on amazon.

Materials: watercolor paper 270 gr/m, pigment liners (black 0,2 mm and 0,8 mm, waterproof on paper) and watercolor.

I started with a simple pencil sketch on paper.

Then you can add shadows. I used a thin line for the hatch (you can do this using the points - it will be very nice). Liner 0,2mm.

Then I outlined the edge of the picture with a thick liner (0.5-0.8 mm) and dashed darkest places.

Time for watercolor! I added a few drops of gum arabic in water, then watercolor dries slower and you have time to blend colors.

That's what I did.

and that other drawings of skulls of animals.

I made a few cat mask with eyes and bows. Behind there is a special part to make it more comfortable for the head during sleep (usual gum all the time slips off the back of the head).

Here's what masks I did.

Here the pattern to sew a mask (print it on A4). Free for personal and commercial use.

My teddy bears.

I like teddies and always wanted to make it. So I tried myself in artist teddy bear making.
It was very interesting to do and I had so much fun making teddy bears. But it's not too easy to make them, it consists of many small parts and each bear must have its own character. I have developed some of his patterns on the basis of patterns of classic teddy bears.
I made blog for my teddies: oxana-and-bears.blogspot.com

Here they are: Fedor, Anna, Otto and Sophie.

They are fully jointed and can move hands, legs and head with glass eyes and hand stitched nose.
And I made labels for them "Oxana and Bears".

Have a look on every of them here.

DIY: eco craft paper package.

I like craft paper, it's a good paper for drawing, origami and... package. Here is my experience with craft paper from amazon parcel (lust cant throw it in garbage).

I had a lot of craft paper :)

Fold it in few layers (I made 2).

Sew on 3 borders. I tried to decorate it with a few sewed lines.

Here they are! Looks pretty and eco.

Coursera - first experience. The Ancient Greeks.

This course in coursera community was ended 2 months ago. It was my firs experience with online education, and it was cool!

This is a survey of ancient Greek history from the Bronze Age to the death of Socrates in 399 BCE made by Wesleyan University. During the course I discovered not only the dates and the names but lots of interesting facts about political and cultural life of the Ancient Greeks.

Knossos Crete, Palace of Minos (made by me June 2013)

And one of the most important part for education (as for me) it's a teacher. The course instructor was just wonderful - Andrew Szegedy-Maszak "Professor Andy". If during my 5 years of study at university in Moscow all the teachers were like him, my school would be a holiday on which I would have every morning ran into the class. And I would like to thank you him and saying he is a perfect instructor for me.

The course was organized very good: Professor Andy's interesting lectures, additional material can be found immediately on the site. At the end of each week are tests that you can re-take it three times.

It was not easy for me (first of all because of my English, but for lectures I used English subtitles), the tests were not simple - some of the questions require thinking, logical reasoning and reading additional materials.
But no matter what I gladly found time after work to explore the history of ancient Greece with the professor Andy.

I remember better when I write down., so I wrote short notes while listening to lectures. Some lectures listened to 2 times :)

At the end of the course, I received a certificate and very proud of myself!

Repetition of this course is planned in the near future, information about this can be found on the Coursera website.

Pleasant coincidence: I spent vacation this year on the Crete, visited the Minoan Palace of Knossos (I was already prepared and did not need a guide - it's cool).
I've always been fascinated by the Ancient Greeks but now I'm just in love with it.

The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron. Start!

I think now it's my turn to pass this course with the bestselling book about the creative process: The Artist’s Way.
Now it's week 1. I have already started to write morning pages - for me it is very difficult, it's hard to wake up in the morning. Let's see what comes of it. :)

Adobe Creative Days in Munich!

Adobe team in Munich to introduce Adobe Creative Cloud.

Adobe Creative Days

Very interesting and positive meeting, Munich was the last performance place but the meeting was conducted very professional and informative. I could fall in love with CC and see it has a lot of advantages (strangely enough, before that I was thinking differently).

If you missed it, all can be viewed online.

Residenzmuseum (Residenz), Munich. Part2

Part 1 here.

Patterns and textures.

This museum is a great place and I would like to tell about the textiles and wallpaper extra.
The walls of each room are decorated with very beautiful textile. Color matched perfectly.

This green tint to my taste.

If you are an interior designer or just a lover of beautiful fabrics and textures - be sure to go see.
